Committee Update - 11th May 2012

The open committee meeting of 11th May was well attended with a full turn out of the committee and a number of plot holders also attending.

The minutes of the meeting will be available to view at the next committee meeting.

With all plot fees paid for this year and all plots let the Association is in a financially sound position. It was agreed that the remaining funds from the NWBC set up grant would be spent on improving the communal areas of the site. Notice of proposed changes to constitution

Having received legal advice from the NSALG the committee wish to propose two additions to the HAA Constitution for approval at the AGM on 10th Feb.

Normally members are given 14 days notice to consider amendments however this advice was only received on 1ST February so the changes could not be presented earlier. The additions are required to protect the trustees named in the lease agreement with WCC.

The trustees are Catherine Whittaker and Sylvia Burns. We hope that you will approve these additions at the AGM even though we could not give you 14 days notice.

The additions are highlighted in this document.

Temporary Road Closure - Knowle Hill, Hurley

Warwickshire County Council propose to make a Temporary Traffic Order closing Knowle Hill, Hurley to all traffic.

The Order will commence on 25 January 2012 and will last for a period of 18 months, or until the works are completed, whichever is the earlier. However, it is anticipated the road will only be closed between 25 January 2012 and 31 January 2012.

The closure is required for highway reconstruction.

Pedestrian access to and egress from properties and land situated adjacent to the length of road to be closed will be maintained at all times. Vehicular access will be maintained where possible.

The full article is available here http://www.northwarks.gov.uk/news/article/1553/temporary_road_closure-knowle_hill_hurley, along with a plan of the diversion around the village for through traffic.

Through discussion with the council, we have learned that the schedule of works is as follows:

Wed 25 Jan - All Day - Access for residents and businesses only.
Thu 26 Jan - Morning - Closure from Archers to Brick Kiln Lane (i.e. Post Office)
Thu 26 Jan - Afternoon - Closure from Brick Kiln Lane to Atherstone Rd (i.e. Heanley La)
Fri 27 Jan - All Day - Closure from Brick Kiln Lane to Atherstone Rd
Sat 28 Jan - All Day - Access for residents and businesses only.
Sun 29 Jan - All Day - Access for residents and businesses only.
Mon 30 Jan - All Day - Access for residents and businesses only.
Tue 31 Jan - All Day - Access for residents and businesses only.

The planned closures are 24-hour closures and as such will not be lifted in the evenings or at weekends.

We are assured that access for residents will be maintained, albeit with some disruption  throughout the works.

So, for the period from 25th Jan to 31st Jan we must advise all plot holders that access to the allotment site will be limited and that non-residents are unlikely to be granted access through the works, however local residents should still be able to access the site on foot.

UPDATE: Information published on 17 Jan indicates most of the closure and works will be over the weekend on 28/29 Jan. Plot holders are still advised to avoid visiting the site that weekend as access will be difficult.

Committee Update 1 December 2011

Hedging exercise completed.

Thanks to all of those plot holders who turned out to help on 4 separate occasions for preparation and planting.

Winter preparation is complete and the water has been turned off. The taps and standpipes will be lagged in due course.

The roadways, both central and top, have now been closed and seeded.

AGM

The AGM has been arranged for 10th February 2012, 7pm at Hurley village hall.

7 elected committee members will continue serving their 3 year term as per the constitution. 3 committee members who were co-opted during the year are standing for election. If any members also wish to stand for election they need to be proposed and seconded using the official paperwork available from the secretary.

Sheds

If you were part of the bulk purchase you are reminded that the original treatment was only designed to keep it weatherproof for 2 months and that a further weatherproof treatment should be applied. It was also a condition of the planning consent that they were 'brown in colour'.

We also encourage people to have guttering fitted by the spring to harvest rainwater.
